The Minolta MC W.Rokkor-SG 28mm f/3.5 is a classic manual-focus wide-angle lens from Minolta's celebrated Rokkor series. The 'SG' designation follows Minolta's letter code, indicating a 7-group, 7-element optical design, and the lens is a fine example of Minolta's solid, all-metal craftsmanship of the MC era.

Optically, the lens produces clean, detailed images with Minolta's characteristic warm and natural colour rendering. Rokkor lenses are widely admired for their pleasing tonality, and this 28mm delivers crisp results, especially when stopped down for landscape and architectural work.

The 28mm focal length offers a broad but natural perspective, ideal for landscapes, interiors, travel and street photography. It allows you to capture context and atmosphere while keeping straight lines and proportions looking realistic.

The lens is built with a sturdy metal barrel and a smooth focusing ring. Clear depth-of-field markings make zone focusing quick and practical, which is especially useful for candid street photography.

The MC (Meter Coupled) design allows full-aperture metering on Minolta cameras such as the SR-T series, giving smooth and convenient operation on classic Minolta film bodies.

On film, the lens works with Minolta manual-focus SLRs such as the SR-T series, XE, XD, X-700 and X-570. It also adapts easily to modern mirrorless cameras including Sony E, Fujifilm X, Canon RF, Nikon Z and Micro Four Thirds using an MD/MC adapter, where focus peaking and magnification make manual focusing precise and enjoyable.

Rokkor lenses continue to attract photographers thanks to their distinctive rendering and excellent build quality. This 28mm is a characterful and practical wide-angle option for both film and digital photography.

If you are looking for a classic, well-built wide-angle lens with Minolta's renowned colour and character, the MC W.Rokkor-SG 28mm f/3.5 is an excellent choice.
