The Nikon D60 is a compact, lightweight 10.2-megapixel DX-format digital SLR introduced in 2008 as an easy-to-use entry into the Nikon system. It combines a CCD sensor with Nikon's EXPEED image processing, and adds practical features such as an image sensor cleaning system and Active D-Lighting for balanced highlights and shadows.

The 10.2-megapixel CCD sensor is one of the main attractions of the D60 today. CCD sensors from this era are prized for their rich colours and film-like rendering, and the D60's files have a pleasing, vibrant look with attractive skin tones and saturated skies. Images are crisp and well suited to prints and online sharing.

The D60 is small and light, with a comfortable grip and a clear, friendly control layout. Its 2.5-inch monitor shows a helpful graphical information display, and in-camera retouch options let you make adjustments without a computer. It is an easy camera to take on trips and daily outings.

A 3-point autofocus system provides simple and reliable focusing, and 3D Color Matrix Metering II helps achieve accurate exposures across a wide range of scenes. Full manual control, RAW capture and a 1/4000 sec top shutter speed give room for creative photography as your skills develop.

The D60 uses the Nikon F mount and autofocuses with AF-S and AF-I lenses, including the many affordable AF-S DX zooms and primes. Older screw-drive AF lenses and manual-focus lenses can be mounted for manual focusing, opening up creative possibilities with classic Nikkor optics.

This camera is ideal for beginners, travellers and anyone who wants a light DSLR with distinctive CCD image quality. It works nicely for everyday snapshots, family photography, landscapes and portraits, and is a great second body for experienced Nikon users.

Many photographers now seek out the D60 specifically for its CCD colour signature, which offers a look that differs from modern sensors. Combined with straightforward handling and the reliability of Nikon engineering, it remains an enjoyable and practical camera.

If you are looking for a compact Nikon DSLR with characterful CCD images and simple operation, the D60 is a lovely choice. Paired with an AF-S lens, it makes a light and capable everyday camera.
