The Nikon AF NIKKOR 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 is a sturdy, well-built telephoto zoom from Nikon's early autofocus era. Constructed with the robust quality typical of late-1980s Nikon lenses, it provides long reach and reliable optical performance.

The 75-300mm range covers portraits through long telephoto, making it suitable for sports, wildlife, airshows, and candid photography. On DX-format cameras, it becomes approximately 112.5-450mm in 35mm terms, ideal for distant subjects.

Optically, the lens delivers good sharpness and contrast with Nikon's natural color, particularly when stopped down slightly. Its solid metal construction gives it a reassuring, durable feel.

Autofocus is driven by the camera's screw-drive motor, so it works on Nikon AF film SLRs and on DSLRs with a built-in AF motor, such as the D7000 series, D300 series, and full-frame models. On bodies without an AF motor, it can be used with manual focus.

The lens has an aperture ring, making it compatible with many older Nikon film cameras as well. It can also be adapted to mirrorless cameras with a Nikon F adapter for manual-focus use with full aperture control.

With a 62 mm filter thread and a weight of about 850 g, it is substantial but well balanced, especially on larger film and digital bodies.

Early AF Nikkor telephoto lenses like this remain popular for their build quality and value, offering serious telephoto reach at a fraction of the cost of modern alternatives.

If you want a durable and capable telephoto zoom for your Nikon AF film or digital camera, the AF NIKKOR 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 is a dependable and economical choice.
