Professional Camera Store's Recommendation

The Minolta AF Zoom 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 is a compact autofocus telephoto zoom for the Minolta A-mount system, now fully compatible with Sony Alpha A-mount cameras. It offers impressive telephoto reach in a lightweight, easily portable design.

Optically, it produces sharp, clean images with Minolta's well-regarded color rendering. It handles everyday telephoto subjects well and delivers pleasing background blur at the long end.

For a 300mm zoom, the lens is notably compact and light, making it easy to keep in a bag for travel, hiking and outdoor events.

Autofocus is driven by the camera body's screw-drive motor, providing reliable focusing on Minolta AF film cameras and Sony A-mount digital bodies. Sony bodies with in-body SteadyShot stabilize the lens automatically.

The 100-300mm range is ideal for wildlife, sports, motorsports, distant landscapes and candid portraits. On APS-C Sony A-mount cameras, it reaches approximately 150-450mm equivalent.

The lens works on Minolta Maxxum/Dynax AF film SLRs and on Konica Minolta and Sony Alpha A-mount DSLRs and SLTs. It can also be used on Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras with an LA-EA series adapter, with AF depending on adapter and body.

Today, Minolta AF lenses are valued for their solid optical quality and excellent value, and this zoom is a practical way to add telephoto reach to an A-mount kit.

We recommend this lens to Minolta and Sony A-mount users seeking an affordable, lightweight telephoto zoom.
