The MINOLTA AF ZOOM 100-200mm f/4.5 is a compact telephoto zoom lens from Minolta's original autofocus lens lineup, introduced with the pioneering Maxxum/α system. It is known for its small size, constant aperture, and solid optical performance.

A notable feature is its constant f/4.5 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range, so exposure stays consistent as you zoom. This is convenient for both manual exposure and flash photography.

The 100-200mm range covers classic telephoto focal lengths for portraits, sports, and nature. On Sony A-mount APS-C cameras, it becomes approximately 150-300mm in 35mm terms, offering useful reach for distant subjects.

Optically, the lens provides good sharpness and natural Minolta color, with pleasing background blur at longer focal lengths. It is an excellent choice for headshots and candid portraits from a comfortable distance.

The compact and lightweight design makes this lens easy to carry alongside a standard zoom, adding telephoto capability with minimal bulk. Its build reflects the quality of early Minolta AF lenses.

Autofocus is driven by the camera body's screw-drive motor, making it compatible with Minolta AF film cameras and Sony Alpha DSLR and SLT bodies. With Sony's LA-EA adapters, it can be used on Sony E-mount cameras (autofocus support depends on adapter and body).

Early Minolta AF lenses are appreciated for their quality construction and excellent value, and this compact telephoto zoom is a fine example.

If you want a small, constant-aperture telephoto zoom for your Minolta or Sony A-mount camera, the AF ZOOM 100-200mm f/4.5 is a practical and enjoyable choice.
