Camera Shop Comment
The PENTAX Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR 55mm f/1.8 is one of the most popular classic standard lenses from the M42 era. Its natural 55mm focal length and bright f/1.8 maximum aperture make it a versatile choice for portraits, street photography, travel, everyday shooting, and low-light situations.

One of the main attractions of this lens is its classic Takumar rendering. It offers a pleasing balance of sharpness, contrast, and smooth background blur, while the Super-Multi-Coating helps reduce flare and maintain good contrast compared with earlier single-coated designs.

The lens is also well known for its compact all-metal construction and smooth manual-focus operation. The 49mm filter thread keeps the setup small and practical, and the M42 screw mount makes it easy to adapt to many modern mirrorless camera systems.

This lens is especially recommended for photographers who enjoy vintage manual-focus lenses, classic Pentax build quality, and distinctive rendering with a more traditional photographic character.

For users of compatible M42 film cameras or modern mirrorless bodies with an appropriate adapter, this is an excellent and affordable way to experience one of the most recognizable Takumar lenses.
