The Nikon FG is a compact and capable 35mm SLR introduced in 1982. Combining small size with advanced features, it offered Program, Aperture-Priority, and Manual exposure modes, making it one of the most versatile compact Nikon SLRs of its era.

Program mode sets both aperture and shutter speed automatically for point-and-shoot simplicity, while Aperture-Priority mode gives you depth-of-field control with automatic shutter speeds. Full Manual mode, with LED guidance in the viewfinder, allows complete creative control.

The FG was one of Nikon's first cameras to offer TTL off-the-film (OTF) flash metering, which measures flash light directly off the film during exposure for accurate results with compatible Nikon Speedlights.

Exposure compensation of ±2 EV allows easy adjustments for tricky lighting, and the clear LED display in the viewfinder shows the shutter speed being used. If the battery fails, the mechanical M90 setting still provides 1/90 sec.
