The Canon FD 35-70mm f/2.8-3.5 is a high-quality manual-focus standard zoom lens from Canon's FD system. Its relatively bright f/2.8-3.5 maximum aperture set it apart from typical kit zooms, making it a favored choice for photographers who wanted a fast, versatile everyday zoom.

The 35-70mm range covers the most useful everyday focal lengths: 35mm for street and travel, 50mm for a natural perspective, and 70mm for portraits. Having these in one lens makes it convenient for travel and walk-around photography.

The brighter f/2.8 aperture at the wide end helps in dim lighting and allows more background separation than slower zooms. Images show good sharpness and pleasing contrast with Canon's natural color rendition.

Built in the solid style of Canon's FD era, the lens has a durable construction and a smooth manual focusing feel that makes precise focusing enjoyable.

The lens fits Canon FD-mount cameras such as the A-1, AE-1, AE-1 Program, AT-1, F-1, and T-series bodies, with full-aperture metering and automatic exposure on supported models.

With an inexpensive FD adapter, it can be used on mirrorless cameras such as Sony E, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and Micro Four Thirds. On APS-C and Micro Four Thirds bodies, it becomes a useful short-telephoto zoom for portraits and details.

Faster standard zooms from the FD era are appreciated today for their combination of build quality and practical performance, offering great value for film and digital shooters alike.

If you are looking for a versatile, well-built standard zoom for your Canon FD camera or a characterful vintage zoom to adapt, the Canon FD 35-70mm f/2.8-3.5 is a strong choice.
