The Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED is a lightweight telephoto zoom designed for Nikon DX-format DSLRs. It provides an equivalent range of about 82.5-300mm, a popular companion to standard 18-55mm kit lenses.

Its optical design includes an ED glass element to reduce chromatic aberration, helping produce sharp, clean images with good contrast across the zoom range.

Nikon's Vibration Reduction system helps counteract camera shake, which is especially valuable at the long telephoto end and in lower light.

The lens is compact and light at around 335g, and internal focusing keeps the front element stationary, making it easy to use polarizing filters.

The focal range is ideal for portraits with compressed backgrounds, children's sports, wildlife, and distant landscape details, making it a versatile second lens for any DX kit.

It is designed for Nikon DX DSLRs and can also be mounted on Nikon Z mirrorless cameras via the FTZ adapter. The 52mm filter size matches many other Nikon lenses.

Today this lens remains valued as an affordable, lightweight way to extend a Nikon DX kit into the telephoto range with stabilization.

We recommend it to Nikon DX users looking for a compact telephoto zoom, and to buyers familiar with the listing details who want an economical option.
