The Canon EF 35-135mm f/4-5.6 is a practical standard-to-telephoto zoom lens from the early years of the Canon EOS autofocus system. Covering a useful range from moderate wide-angle to short telephoto, it was designed as a convenient one-lens solution for everyday photography on Canon EOS cameras.

Optically, the lens delivers clean, natural-looking images with good contrast, especially when stopped down a little. Its rendering is pleasing and slightly classic in character, making it a nice match for both film photography and digital cameras.

The 35mm wide end handles street scenes, landscapes and group photos, while the 135mm telephoto end is a classic focal length for portraits and for picking out details from a distance. This range makes it a very flexible travel and walk-around lens.

As an EF-mount lens with full electronic communication, it supports autofocus and automatic aperture control on all Canon EOS SLRs. An AF/MF switch allows easy changes to manual focus when you want more precise control.

On full-frame bodies, the lens provides its native 35–135mm range. On Canon APS-C DSLRs, the field of view becomes approximately 56–216mm, turning it into a capable telephoto zoom for portraits, events and outdoor subjects.

The lens can also be used on Canon EOS R mirrorless cameras via the EF-EOS R adapter, maintaining autofocus and electronic aperture control, which gives it continued usefulness on modern systems.

This lens is especially appealing to EOS film camera users who want a single versatile zoom that suits the era of their camera, as well as digital shooters looking for an affordable way to add telephoto reach.

If you are looking for a convenient, affordable Canon EF zoom that covers wide-to-telephoto in one lens, the EF 35-135mm f/4-5.6 is a practical and enjoyable choice.
