The Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR is a modern, compact standard zoom designed for Nikon DX-format DSLRs. It offers the essential everyday range from wide-angle to short telephoto in an exceptionally light, retractable design.

Its optical formula, including two aspherical elements, delivers sharp, clean images with good contrast. For a compact kit zoom, its performance is impressive, and its close-focusing ability adds extra creative flexibility.

The AF-P designation indicates Nikon's pulse stepping motor, which provides very quiet and smooth autofocus. This is particularly useful for video recording and for discreet shooting in quiet places.

Vibration Reduction offers approximately four stops of stabilization, making it easier to shoot sharp handheld pictures indoors, at dusk, or at the telephoto end.

The retractable barrel makes the lens very compact for carrying, and at around 205g it keeps your camera light. It is ideal for travel, family photography, street shooting, vlogging and casual landscapes.

Please note that AF-P lenses require a compatible camera body; recent Nikon DX DSLRs such as the D3400, D3500, D5300 (with updated firmware), D5600, D7500 and D500 support it. It can also be used on Nikon Z mirrorless cameras with the FTZ adapter, with autofocus and VR.

Today this lens is valued as a lightweight, high-quality everyday zoom that represents Nikon's most refined generation of DX kit lenses.

We recommend it to Nikon DX shooters looking for a quiet, compact and stabilized standard zoom. It is a practical, enjoyable lens for everyday photography and video.
