The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED is a versatile standard zoom lens designed for Nikon's DX-format digital SLRs. Originally offered as a kit lens with popular models such as the D80, it covers a broad range that makes it an ideal everyday lens.

On a DX camera, the 18-135mm range is equivalent to approximately 27-202.5mm in 35mm terms. This covers wide-angle landscapes and interiors, everyday snapshots, portraits, and moderate telephoto subjects, all in one lens.

The optical design includes one ED glass element and two aspherical elements to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion. Images are sharp and contrasty, with Nikon's natural color rendering, especially when stopped down slightly.

Autofocus is powered by Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (AF-S), providing fast and quiet focusing that works on all Nikon DX DSLRs, including entry-level models without a built-in AF motor. Internal focusing means the front element does not rotate, convenient for polarizing filters.

The lens is compact and relatively light for its range, at around 385 g, making it a practical choice for travel and long days of shooting. Seven rounded aperture blades help produce pleasing background blur.

It can also be used on Nikon Z series mirrorless cameras via the FTZ or FTZ II adapter with full autofocus, and on FX bodies in DX crop mode.

A wide-ranging zoom like this reduces the need to change lenses, making it especially useful for travel, events, and family photography where moments happen quickly.

If you shoot with a Nikon DX camera and want a single versatile lens for everyday photography, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED is a dependable and rewarding choice.
