Professional Camera Store's Recommendation

The Minolta X-700 is one of the most popular manual-focus 35mm SLRs ever made and was Minolta's flagship consumer model through the 1980s. Paired here with the MC ROKKOR-PF 50mm f/1.7 standard lens, it makes an excellent, complete film outfit.

The X-700 offers three exposure modes: full Program, Aperture-priority, and Manual. Program mode operates with MD-series lenses, while the included MC lens works perfectly in Aperture-priority and Manual, which are the modes most film photographers use every day.

Its viewfinder is one of the brightest of its era, with Minolta's Acute-Matte focusing screen making manual focus easy even in dim light. LED indicators show the shutter speed clearly, and the controls are intuitive and well placed.

The camera features exposure compensation, AE lock, a self-timer, and TTL off-the-film flash metering with dedicated Minolta flashes. Accessories such as motor drives and winders were also produced, reflecting the depth of the X-700 system.

The MC ROKKOR-PF 50mm f/1.7 is a sharp, reliable standard lens with Minolta's renowned warm color rendering. It is an ideal all-purpose lens for portraits, street photography, travel and everyday life.

The X-700 accepts the full range of Minolta SR-mount MC and MD lenses, a large and affordable system that spans wide-angle to telephoto. Rokkor lenses also adapt easily to mirrorless cameras, adding value to every lens in your collection.

Today the X-700 is cherished for its ease of use, bright viewfinder and wonderful Rokkor glass, making it one of the most recommended cameras for learning and enjoying film photography.

We recommend this kit to beginners and enthusiasts alike. It is a classic, approachable combination that delivers beautiful results and a genuinely enjoyable shooting experience.
