The Nikon FM is one of the most celebrated mechanical 35mm SLRs ever made. Introduced in 1977, it established Nikon's compact professional-quality body design and became the foundation of the long-running FM series. This example comes in classic silver finish.

The FM is a fully mechanical camera: its shutter operates at all speeds without batteries, while the batteries power only the light meter. This makes it exceptionally dependable, and many photographers still choose it for travel and expeditions where reliability is essential.

Its center-weighted TTL meter uses a simple and intuitive LED display, with plus, circle, and minus indicators showing exposure at a glance. The shutter runs from 1 second to 1/1000 sec plus Bulb, with flash sync at 1/125 sec.

The camera is built with a durable metal body and has a smooth advance lever, a multiple-exposure lever, and a self-timer. It is compatible with the MD-11 and MD-12 motor drives for faster film advance when needed.

The FM is ideal for street photography, travel, documentary work, and learning photography. Its manual controls encourage deliberate shooting and give complete creative control over every frame.

The camera uses the Nikon F mount and works with Ai, Ai-S, and Ai-converted Nikkor lenses, as well as many AF-D lenses with aperture rings. This gives access to one of the largest and most respected lens systems in photography.

Decades after its introduction, the Nikon FM is still sought after for its blend of compactness, durability, and pure mechanical shooting experience. It remains a benchmark for what a manual film SLR should be.

If you want a reliable, fully mechanical Nikon SLR that you can use for years, the Nikon FM in silver is a timeless and highly recommended choice.
