The Minolta AF ZOOM 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 is a compact telephoto zoom lens for the Minolta A / Sony A mount. It offers serious telephoto reach in a surprisingly small and light body, making it an attractive alternative to bulkier telephoto lenses.

The 100-300mm range is ideal for sports, wildlife, birds, airshows, and candid portraits. On Sony A-mount APS-C cameras, the field of view becomes approximately 150-450mm in 35mm terms, giving impressive reach for distant subjects.

Minolta's AF lenses are known for good optical quality, and this 100-300mm delivers clean, sharp results with natural Minolta color, particularly when stopped down slightly. The long focal lengths allow strong background compression and subject isolation.

The lens is compact and easy to handle, making it practical to carry on hikes, trips, and outdoor events. Its 55 mm filter thread is small for a 300mm lens, keeping filter costs low.

Autofocus is driven by the camera's screw-drive motor, so it works on Minolta AF film cameras as well as Sony Alpha DSLR and SLT bodies, many of which also offer in-body image stabilization that works with this lens.

With Sony's LA-EA adapters, the lens can also be used on Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras (autofocus support depends on the adapter and camera), extending its usefulness into today's systems.

Classic Minolta telephoto zooms remain popular because they offer genuine telephoto capability at a fraction of the price of modern equivalents, while still delivering pleasing images.

If you need a lightweight, affordable telephoto zoom for your Minolta or Sony A-mount camera, the AF ZOOM 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 is an excellent choice for sports, nature, and travel photography.
