Professional Camera Store's Recommendation

The Mamiya NC1000s is a compact 35mm SLR from Mamiya, a Japanese manufacturer best known for its professional medium format cameras. Offered here with the AUTO MAMIYA-SEKOR CS 50mm f/1.7, it represents Mamiya's 35mm SLR line, which is far less common than the major brands and therefore appealing to collectors.

The NC1000s uses Mamiya's CS bayonet lens mount, developed for its 35mm SLR system. Exposure is set manually with the help of the built-in TTL light meter, offering a classic, hands-on shooting experience that encourages careful and thoughtful photography.

A top shutter speed of 1/1000 sec handles bright light and moving subjects, and the camera's compact size makes it comfortable to carry for travel and everyday shooting.

The included AUTO MAMIYA-SEKOR CS 50mm f/1.7 is a fast standard lens with a natural perspective. Mamiya's optical expertise shows in its crisp rendering and pleasing contrast, and the bright f/1.7 aperture allows low-light shooting and soft background blur.

Mamiya's 35mm cameras were produced in smaller numbers than those from Nikon, Canon, or Minolta, which gives the NC1000s a distinct character and rarity. It is an interesting piece of Japanese camera history from a maker that also produced legendary professional equipment.

The Sekor CS 50mm f/1.7 can also be adapted to mirrorless cameras with a suitable CS-mount adapter, allowing digital photographers to enjoy the rendering of this uncommon vintage optic.

For film photographers who enjoy using something a little different, Mamiya's 35mm SLRs offer quality construction and excellent lenses without the premium attached to more famous models.

If you are looking for a distinctive and capable manual 35mm SLR kit with a fast standard lens, the Mamiya NC1000s with AUTO MAMIYA-SEKOR CS 50mm f/1.7 is a rewarding and collectible choice.
