The Nikon AF NIKKOR 70-210mm f/4-5.6D is a well-built autofocus telephoto zoom from Nikon's AF-D lens series. It offers a useful range from short to medium-long telephoto and has gained a good reputation for sharpness and solid construction relative to its class.

Optically, the lens produces crisp, colourful images with good contrast, and its telephoto focal lengths deliver pleasing background compression for portraits and outdoor subjects. It renders scenes with a clean, natural Nikon look.

As a D-type lens, it provides distance information to compatible Nikon cameras for improved 3D Matrix Metering and flash exposure. The aperture ring makes it fully usable on older Nikon film cameras and with manual aperture adapters.

The 70–210mm range is versatile for portraits, sports, wildlife, outdoor events and travel. It pairs naturally with a standard zoom to form a flexible two-lens kit for full-frame or DX shooting.

The lens autofocuses on Nikon film and digital SLRs with a built-in AF motor, such as the F4, F90X/N90s, F100, D80, D90, D200 and D7000-series. On DX cameras it becomes an approximately 105–315mm equivalent telephoto with impressive reach.

It can also be used on Nikon Z mirrorless cameras via the FTZ adapter for manual focus, or adapted to other mirrorless systems using Nikon F adapters that control the aperture ring.

The AF 70-210mm f/4-5.6D remains popular with Nikon film shooters and DSLR users alike for its combination of reach, build quality and dependable optical performance.

If you are looking for a solid, affordable telephoto zoom for your Nikon camera, the AF NIKKOR 70-210mm f/4-5.6D is a reliable and enjoyable choice.
