The Pentax Super-Takumar 135mm f/3.5 is a classic M42 screw-mount telephoto lens from Asahi Optical's golden era. Like other Takumars, it is admired for its excellent mechanical quality, smooth focusing and beautiful, classic image rendering.

Optically, the lens produces sharp, contrasty images with a gentle vintage character. The 135mm focal length compresses perspective and separates subjects cleanly from their backgrounds, making it a superb choice for portraits and telephoto details.

The all-metal construction gives the lens a solid, premium feel, and the focusing ring turns with the smooth, precise damping that Takumar lenses are famous for. A built-in retractable lens hood helps reduce flare without the need for additional accessories.

The 135mm focal length is versatile for head-and-shoulder portraits, candid street photography from a distance, stage performances and nature subjects. Its manageable size keeps it practical to carry compared with larger telephoto lenses.

An Auto/Manual switch allows the aperture to be stopped down manually for metering on Spotmatic cameras and when using adapters, making it very convenient for use on modern digital bodies.

Thanks to the universal M42 screw mount, this lens can be used on a wide range of film cameras, including Pentax Spotmatic and other M42 bodies, and adapts very easily to modern mirrorless cameras such as Sony E, Fujifilm X, Canon RF, Nikon Z and Micro Four Thirds. Simple, inexpensive adapters are widely available, and the lens can even be used on Canon EOS DSLRs with an M42-EF adapter.

On APS-C mirrorless cameras, the lens offers an approximately 200mm equivalent field of view, giving you a lightweight vintage telephoto with genuine character at a very accessible level.

If you are looking for a beautifully built vintage telephoto with classic Takumar rendering, the Super-Takumar 135mm f/3.5 is an excellent choice for film and adapted digital photography.
