【Used Camera Specialty Store Comment】

The smc PENTAX-DA 16-45mm f/4 ED AL is a highly versatile wide-angle standard zoom lens designed for Pentax APS-C digital SLR cameras. It offers an excellent combination of optical performance, practical focal lengths, and portability, making it a great choice for landscape, travel, architecture, and everyday photography.

One of the most attractive features of this lens is its useful 16-45mm zoom range, equivalent to approximately 24.5-69mm in 35mm format. At 16mm, photographers can capture expansive landscapes, dramatic architecture, interiors, and group photographs. At 45mm, the lens provides a natural perspective suitable for portraits, street photography, and everyday subjects.

Unlike many standard zoom lenses with variable maximum apertures, this lens maintains a constant f/4 maximum aperture throughout the entire zoom range. This allows photographers to change focal lengths without changing the maximum available aperture, providing greater convenience and consistency when shooting in manual exposure mode.

The optical design incorporates Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass and two aspherical elements to help reduce chromatic aberration and other optical imperfections. Combined with Pentax's renowned Super Multi Coating, the lens is designed to produce images with pleasing contrast, natural colors, and excellent detail.

Another important advantage is the Quick-Shift Focus System, which allows manual focus adjustments immediately after autofocus has been achieved without changing the focus mode. This feature is particularly useful for landscape photography, close-up subjects, and situations requiring precise focus control.

With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.28 meters and a maximum magnification ratio of 0.26x, this lens also offers useful close-up photography capabilities for flowers, food, small objects, and everyday details.

Weighing approximately 365 grams, the lens is relatively lightweight and easy to carry. Its practical size makes it an excellent companion for travel, sightseeing, and daily photography without the bulk of larger professional zoom lenses.

As one of the earliest DA-series lenses developed specifically for Pentax digital SLR cameras, the smc PENTAX-DA 16-45mm f/4 ED AL also represents an important milestone in Pentax's digital photography history.

As a used camera specialty store, we particularly recommend this lens to photographers who want a wider field of view than a conventional 18-55mm kit lens, along with the convenience of a constant f/4 aperture and Pentax's well-regarded optical design.

For Pentax APS-C DSLR users who enjoy landscapes, architecture, travel, and general photography, this lens remains an excellent and practical choice.

Everything shown in the photos is included in the package.
