Professional Camera Store's Recommendation

An Ultra-Compact Wide-Angle Lens for Everyday Photography

The Sony E 16mm f/2.8 SEL16F28 is an excellent choice for photographers who want a lightweight, portable wide-angle lens for their Sony mirrorless camera.

With a 24mm-equivalent field of view on APS-C cameras, this lens is particularly well suited for landscapes, street photography, travel, architecture, and casual everyday shooting.

1. Extremely Compact Pancake Design

Measuring just 22.5mm in length and weighing approximately 67g, this lens transforms compatible Sony cameras into an exceptionally portable photography system.

It is ideal for travel, walking around cities, and everyday photography when carrying a large lens would be inconvenient.

2. Versatile 24mm-Equivalent Wide-Angle Perspective

The 16mm focal length provides an approximately 24mm-equivalent perspective on APS-C cameras.

This allows photographers to capture expansive landscapes, cityscapes, interiors, and environmental portraits while maintaining a natural sense of depth.

3. Bright f/2.8 Maximum Aperture

The f/2.8 maximum aperture offers greater flexibility than many compact kit zoom lenses at their wide-angle settings.

It is useful for available-light photography and creative compositions with moderate background separation.

4. A Great Companion for Sony Alpha Cameras

This lens pairs especially well with compact Sony APS-C mirrorless cameras, creating an easy-to-carry setup for vacations, street photography, and daily use.

Its lightweight design makes it particularly appealing to photographers who value portability.

Our Recommendation

We recommend the Sony SEL16F28 to photographers looking for a compact, practical wide-angle prime lens that is easy to carry everywhere.

Its combination of a 24mm-equivalent field of view, f/2.8 aperture, and remarkably slim pancake design makes it an attractive option for travel and everyday photography.

For photographers who prioritize portability and convenience, this is a highly useful addition to a Sony E-mount APS-C camera system.

Everything shown in the photos is included in the package.
