Professional Camera Store's Recommendation

The Nikon FE is one of the most respected Nikon film SLRs of the late 1970s and early 1980s, offered here in black with the Zoom-NIKKOR 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 Ai-s lens. The FE combines a compact, rugged metal body with the convenience of aperture-priority automatic exposure and the control of full manual operation.

In aperture-priority mode, you choose the aperture and the camera sets the shutter speed steplessly from 8 sec to 1/1000 sec. Manual mode uses a clear match-needle display, giving precise and intuitive exposure control. Exposure compensation of ±2 EV and an AE lock make tricky lighting easy to manage.

The FE's viewfinder is bright and supports interchangeable focusing screens, allowing you to customize it for your shooting style. A multiple exposure lever and the mechanical M90 setting, which works without a battery, add flexibility and peace of mind.

The black finish gives the FE a professional, understated look that is especially popular with collectors and street photographers. Its size and weight provide a solid, balanced feel without being bulky.

The included Zoom-NIKKOR 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 Ai-s is a compact standard zoom covering wide-angle to short telephoto. With 8 elements in 7 groups and a 52 mm filter thread, it is light, sharp, and well suited to travel, everyday shooting, and portraits.

The FE works with Nikon's huge range of Ai and Ai-s NIKKOR lenses, and the 35-70mm zoom can also be adapted to mirrorless cameras with an inexpensive Nikon F adapter, making the kit useful for both film and digital photographers.

Many photographers consider the FE one of Nikon's best all-round film SLRs, combining reliability, compact size, and convenient automation. It remains a popular choice for those wanting a dependable everyday film camera.

If you are looking for a classic, ready-to-shoot Nikon film kit with automatic exposure and a versatile zoom, the Nikon FE Black with Zoom-NIKKOR 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 is an excellent choice.
