The Nikon NIKKOR 135mm f/2.8 Ai-s is a classic manual-focus telephoto prime that has long been a favorite among portrait and street photographers. It combines a bright f/2.8 aperture with a compact, solidly built design typical of Nikon's Ai-s era.

The 135mm focal length is a traditional portrait choice, offering flattering compression and strong subject isolation. It is also excellent for candid street photography, stage performances, and picking out details in landscapes and architecture.

The bright f/2.8 aperture allows faster shutter speeds in lower light and creates beautifully soft backgrounds. The lens delivers sharp, contrasty images with Nikon's natural color rendition.

Build quality is excellent, with an all-metal barrel, smooth damped focusing, and a convenient built-in telescoping hood that helps reduce flare without extra accessories.

As an Ai-s lens, it works with a wide range of Nikon film SLRs and many Nikon DSLRs, with metering support depending on the camera. Its 52 mm filter thread matches many other classic Nikkor lenses.

With an inexpensive Nikon F adapter, it is easy to use on mirrorless cameras such as Sony E, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and Micro Four Thirds. On APS-C bodies, it becomes an approximately 200mm equivalent, an excellent compact telephoto for portraits and nature.

Manual-focus Nikkor primes are prized today for their durability and timeless optical qualities, and the 135mm f/2.8 Ai-s is one of the most accessible and enjoyable among them.

If you are looking for a well-made portrait telephoto for Nikon film cameras or a characterful lens to adapt to your mirrorless system, the NIKKOR 135mm f/2.8 Ai-s is an excellent choice.
