Professional Camera Store's Recommendation

The Sony Alpha A350 with the DT 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 lens is a complete digital SLR kit that combines a high-resolution 14.2-megapixel CCD sensor with in-body image stabilization and Sony's innovative Quick AF Live View system. Released in 2008, it was one of the most feature-rich cameras in its class.

The 14.2-megapixel APS-C CCD sensor captures fine detail with the rich, saturated colour that CCD sensors are known for. Landscapes, travel scenes and portraits benefit from its vivid rendering, and the high resolution provides room for cropping and large prints.

The A350's Quick AF Live View uses a dedicated sensor so that the camera can keep fast phase-detection autofocus while composing on the rear screen. Paired with the tilting 2.7-inch LCD, this makes high and low-angle shooting easy and comfortable, a genuinely practical advantage for street, event and macro photography.

Super SteadyShot, Sony's sensor-shift stabilization, is built into the camera body, so every mounted lens is stabilized. This includes the supplied DT 18-70mm zoom as well as the wide range of Minolta and Sony A-mount lenses, helping to deliver sharper handheld images in dim light.

The included DT 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 lens offers a versatile range equivalent to roughly 27–105mm in 35mm terms. It is compact and light, focuses down to 0.38 m, and handles everything from wide landscapes to casual portraits, making it an ideal general-purpose lens.

The A-mount gives access to a huge range of Minolta Maxxum/Dynax AF lenses and Sony optics, many of which are affordable and highly regarded. This makes the A350 a great platform for exploring classic Minolta glass with modern digital convenience.

This kit is well suited to beginners and enthusiasts alike, especially those who value a tilting screen, in-body stabilization and the distinctive look of CCD images. It is an excellent choice for travel, landscape and everyday photography.

If you are looking for a versatile DSLR outfit with high-resolution CCD images, a tilting live view screen and stabilization for every lens, the Sony Alpha A350 with DT 18-70mm lens is a capable and enjoyable package.
