The Nikon AF NIKKOR 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D is a versatile standard zoom that covers an impressive range from true wide-angle to medium telephoto. On a full-frame camera, it offers a 5× zoom range in one lens, making it a convenient all-in-one solution for travel and everyday photography.

Its optical design includes two aspherical elements to control distortion and aberrations across the wide zoom range. The lens produces sharp, colourful images with good contrast, particularly when stopped down slightly, and renders scenes with a natural, pleasing look.

The 24mm wide end is ideal for landscapes, architecture and interiors, while the 120mm long end is excellent for portraits and capturing details from a distance. Having this range in a single lens means fewer lens changes and lighter travel.

As a D-type lens, it transmits distance information to compatible Nikon cameras for improved 3D Matrix Metering and flash exposure accuracy. Autofocus is driven by the camera body's motor, and the lens has a classic Nikon feel with practical zoom and focus rings.

The lens works with Nikon film SLRs and digital SLRs that have a built-in autofocus motor, such as the F100, D80, D90, D7000-series, D200, D300 and D700. On DX cameras it becomes a roughly 36–180mm equivalent, an excellent general-purpose range. On bodies without an AF motor, it can be used with manual focus.

It is a great lens for travel, family events, street photography, landscapes and casual portraits. Its broad range and reasonable size make it an ideal walk-around lens for both film and digital shooters.

The AF 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D remains popular as an affordable full-frame standard zoom that offers both genuine wide-angle coverage and useful telephoto reach. It pairs especially well with classic Nikon film cameras and screw-drive-capable DSLRs.

If you are looking for one versatile Nikon zoom to cover most everyday situations, the AF NIKKOR 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D is a practical and capable choice.
